New Chilean Initiative

In April this year Professor Bedi was invited to join an International Research and Training expert group focussed on Early Childhood Caries in South and Central America. The meeting was held at the University of Valparaiso, Chile.

Other than colleagues from Chile and Brazil, paediatric dental experts from the USA and Australlia were present. Professor Bedi was the only representative from the UK and Europe.

On the 26th April 2014, the Basic Human Right for child oral health, 'the Valparaiso Declaration', was launched.

This effort will also strengthen the network of researchers and academics throughout universities involved in Early Childhood Caries. The network will also be instrumental in expanding and building academic teaching, research and social projects in Latin America to especially benefit disadvantaged children.
