IFDH Collaboration
We have developed a new collaboration with the International Federation of Dental Hygienists. The Chair of the GCDFund Professor Raman Bedi met in Dili, Timor Leste, with Mrs Robyn Watson, President-Elect of the International Federation of Dental Hygiene to discuss the implementation of the recently signed MOU between the two organisations.
The MOU will form a collaborative venture between the GDC Fund and IFDH to recognize commendable efforts in social responsibility projects by Dental Hygienists around the world.
The IFDH will be accepting reports on social responsibility projects which benefit disadvantaged children around the world, and one winner and two second prize winners will be chosen to be recognized with a cash award. Reports will also be published on the websites as a method of encouraging social responsibility to benefit the children of the planet.
The organisations will also collaborate to update and share the ‘Young Dentists’ website page of the GCDFund to include ‘Young Dental Hygienists’, and provide a free access resource which focuses on social responsibility and leadership skills.
GCDFund and IFDH are also considering a ‘One in a million’ project that will provide Dental Hygienists with toothbrushes and resource to enter disadvantaged communities in their own or other countries.
On behalf of the Executive Council and the IFDH, I wish to express our gratitude to Professor Bedi for this wonderful opportunity for our members and colleagues in the Dental Hygiene profession. These initiatives will help us to meet our stated goals for the next three year period of:
- Improving Oral Health around the world
- Strengthen the professional profile of Dental Hygienists
- Link dental hygienists around the world
