Dr Sarah Raphael
Sarah graduated BDS from University of Adelaide and worked with the School Dental Service in rural and remote areas of South Australia before moving to Sydney and completing a masters degree in Paediatric Dentistry. She was the recipient of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons, KJG Sutherland Prize in 1995 and a Colgate travelling fellowship to present at IADR in Orlando, Florida in 1996.
More recently, she was awarded an ADA NSW meritorious service medallion. Sarah has held positions within the department of Paediatric Dentistry at Westmead Centre for Oral Health and as a lecturer in the University of Sydney. She has been involved in many national and local committees including ANZSPD, AAPD, RACDS, a member of the Australian Dental Council and a board member for the ADA NSW Centre of Professional Development.
Currently Sarah holds positions as a research and education consultant to Colgate Oral Care and an honorary lecturer at the University of Sydney. Sarah has an active role in the ANZ chapter of the Alliance for a Cavity Free Future where she has been very involved in both the website and cariology survey sub-committees. Recent research has centered around oral health and preventive product technology and at present she is undertaking a systematic review of teenage oral health initiatives with Professor Anthony Blinkhorn with an aim to drive strategic change in the way Australian and international dental services address the burden of oral disease in the adolescent population.
She is working towards developing stronger strategic leadership and management skills in order to offer realistic and achievable solutions for the improvement of oral health in Australia and worldwide. Sarah lives on Sydney’s northern beaches with her husband and two children.
