Dr. Damle possesses more than 40 years of teaching and clinical experience.  After completing his M.D.S in Pediatric Dentistry, from Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh, he served as Lecturer, Assistant Professor, Professor and was also the Dean of Prestigious Nair Hospital  Dental College, Mumbai for 13 years.  He has been a postgraduate teacher for more than 25 years of Mumbai University / Maharashtra University of Health Sciences Nasik ,maharashtra & Maharishi Markandeshwar University and also guide to PhD students. He remained Director, Medical Education & Public Health for 5 years.  Later on he was the first Dental Surgeon to be promoted as Joint Municipal Commissioner, Medical Education & Public Health Department of Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai, Mumbai. Prof. Damle is actively involved in research.  His pioneer research work comprises of Fluorides, Preventive Dentistry, Pediatric Endodontics, Dental Traumatology & Effects of Probiotics on Dental caries.  The research studies on dental caries, periodontal diseases, oral cancer and dentofacial anomalies in the state of Maharashtra and Goa has won him acclamation. Owing to his inquisitiveness for research Prof. Damle is actively associated with Indian Council of Medical Research / World Health Organization and has completed many research projects.  He authored a Textbook of Pediatric Dentistry (5th edition) and also co-authored books on Manual for Dental Professionals on HIV disease and Oral Health in India.  He has numerous publications in Indian and International journals.  He served as Editor of Journal of ISPPD for 14 years. Presently, he is the Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Contemporary Clinical Dentistry.  At present he is Vice-Chancellor of Maharishi Markandeshwar University. He has been awarded Life time Achievement Award, B R Vacher Oration (2007), Outstanding Public Servant (2007) and Dr. R Ahmed Oration for his exceptional performance in the field of Dentistry.  He was also National President of Indian Dental Association, Indian Society of Pediatric Dentistry and Pierre Faurchard Academy.
