Dongsheng Zhang is presently the Executive director of Shandong Provincial Dental Hospital, the chairman of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery branch of Shandong Doctor Association, Committee Member of Head and Neck Tumor Surgery, China Anticancer Association (CACA)，member of the Stomatology branch of Chinese Medical Doctor Association, director of China Association of Plastics and Aesthetics, committee member of Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery of Chinese Stomatological Association (CSA), Young key science and technology talent of Department of health of Shandong Province, vice-president of the Stomatology branch of Shandong Medical Association, and vice-president of the Dental Implant Branch of Shandong Medical Association. He received his B.S.M. degree from Department of Stomatology, Shandong Medical College in 1984, his M.M. degree from School of Stomatology, West China University of Medical Science in 1989, his M.D. and Ph.D. degree from School of Medicine, Shandong University in 2006. He has been to Adelaide University in Australia as a visiting professor in dental school. He has long been engaged in Head and neck cancer treatment and reduction, maxillofacial trauma treatment, and maxillofacial plastic and cosmetic repair. He took the lead in the jawbone fracture open reduction and rigid internal fixation operation and vigorously promote the technology application in Shandong Province since1994 and conduct microsurgery flap, maxillary defect and implant restoration of oral and maxillofacial tumor, which including radial forearm flap, pectoralis major muscle flap, latissimus dorsi muscle flap, thigh anterolateral musculocutaneous flap and free fibular flap for immediate repair and mandibular implant operation since 2000. He guided 19 Master and doctoral degree students and took over above provincial level 10 research projects.
