Dr. Claudio Pinheiro Fernandes is Professor of Prosthodontics at the Dental School of Fluminense Federal University (UFF). He gained his DDS from Rio deJaneiro Federal University in 1987, followed by his Masterof Dental Sciencefrom Lund University, Sweden in 1990, and his PhD from Malmo University in 1995. He participates heavily in all areas of dentistry. He is Head of the project "Learning to Smile"- an innovative education system to promote oral healthliteracy, since 1998. He is Scientific Chairman of the joint education - dental initiative “Social Practices Literacies for Oral Health“ since 2011, and he has been Scientific Coordinator of the ABCD / FDI / IVOCLAR project, "Smiles Around the World", since 2015. He was also an FDI representative at theRio+20 UN Summit and Conference on Sustainable Development in 2012.
