Dr Callum Durward

Callum Durward graduated from the University of Otago with a BDS in 1981.  Later he gained an MDSc in “Childrens and Preventive Dentistry” from the University of Melbourne, and an MPH from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  In the 1980s he spent several years working in refugee camps in Thailand and Malaysia.  In 1990 and 1991 he worked in Cambodia for an NGO called World Concern, helping to improve dental services and education, and has been a regular visitor to Cambodia since then. During 2001-2003 Callum spent 6 months in East Timor as the Oral Health Promotion Advisor for the Australia-East Timor National Oral Health Project.  Callum has also been a Senior Lecturer in NZ at the University of Otago and AUT University,  Principal Dental Officer for the Otago District Health Board, and a Consultant in Paediatric Dentistry for the Auckland District Health Board.  Presently he is living in Cambodia where he is Dean of Cambodia’s second dental school at International University, and Executive Director of the One-2-One Charitable Trust. Callum is also an advisor at the Ministry of Health, a Paediatric Dentist in part-time private practice, Chair of the Global Child Dental Health Taskforce (Cambodia), Secretary of the Cambodian Society of Dental Sedation, Committee Member of the Cambodian Society of Paediatric Dentistry, and Counsellor of the South East Asian Association of Dental Education.  In his spare time Callum helps the Cambodian Gymnastics Federation.
